YouTube sensation Jake Paul edged boxing legend Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in what was billed as the most anticipated bout of the year last night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight, streamed live on Netflix, saw the 27-year-old social media star outclass the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion over eight rounds.
Boxing is a sport Paul has made an instant name for himself in since his arrival a few years back. He had the fight off to a good start and maintained it through to the end with Tyson doing his best to mount a comeback. The match was scored 79-73 by the judges in his favor.
Despite not having a professional opponent since 2005, at certain times in the bout, Tyson acted as he used to, but the rising star in Paul was far too fast and energetic for him to keep up with. Following the bout, the younger Paul paid respect and adoration to Tyson and respected the legend whose contribution is immense for the sport.
Such an event was really hotly discussed since it drew in a tremendous number of people. By his victory, Paul’s record stands at 11-1 as opposed to Tyson’s record which is still 50-71.
